Guinness World Record for Largest Online Poker Tournament

Posted under online poker & poker tournament & texas hold em

Full Tilt Poker will attempt to stamp its name on the Guinness Records and to do so; the site has announced that it will try to set a new record for the Largest Online Poker Tournament. Full Tilt’s Record Breaker tournament was unveiled as the finale to FIVE, a week of events and promotions created exclusively to celebrate the site’s 5th anniversary. The tournament will take place on July 19th at 15:05ET, players can buy in for this event for only $5 or 1000 Full Tilt Points and compete for a share of a $250,000 guaranteed with $250,000 added prize pool. Players can also get entries to this event by playing the online satellites available on the site and starting for as little as 30 cents or 50 Full Tilt Points.

Team Full Tilt pros and WSOP bracelet winners Howard Lederer, Chris Ferguson and Phil Ivey have already confirmed they will take part in the event, offering players the chance to sit down at this historic tournament and play with some of the best high stakes and tournament pros in the world.

“By extending the limits of what is possible in online poker tournaments, Full Tilt Poker will allow players to compete for a big payout without the big buy-in,” said Team Full Tilt member Howard Lederer.

Putting together a poker tournament of this magnitude would be nearly impossible for any brick and mortar casino or poker room. The current record for the largest “live” poker tournament was set at the 2006 WSOP Main Event with 8,772 players. To break the current Guinness Record set by PokeStars.com in December, 2008, Full Tilt Poker will need to attract over 35.000 players. If successful, this tournament will establish Full Tilt Poker as World Record holder and cement its reputation as a world leader in online poker industry.

Full Tilt Poker unveils new “Durrrr Challenge” Info page

Posted under Poker & online poker & poker tournament

FullTiltPoker.net has just unveiled an innovative informative section involving all the facts of the “Durrrr Challenge”, an amazing online heads up poker tournament presenting some of the most talented big money online players challenging the poker sensation Tom “durrrr” Dwan.

The innovative new website offers online poker players and followers the opportunity to follow this amazing internet poker challenge and receive frequent statistical updates. With this new “durrrr Challenge” section poker players can view all the details and review each hand played during durrrr Challenge, and check out lots of statistics, including how many hands were played, session time, amount won, average won during each hand and lots more.

Close to six months ago, the 23 year old online poker professional dealt out a heads-up poker challenge open to any player with the cash, time and ability to accept it. Any player entering the Full Tilt durrrr challenge has to put up $500,000 against Tom’s $1.5 million. Dwan’s challenge specifies that at least 50,000 poker hands need to be played at the same time at 4 or more poker tables of no-limit Hold’em or pot-limit Omaha. At the end of the heads up challenge, the player who has more cash will win the pool. Essentially if you enter the durrrr challenge and win $1 after the 50,000 hands, then you will take home Tom’s $1.5 Million, but if he wins by $1 then he will take your $500,000.

So far, a few poker players have consented to play the “durrrr challenge”, including WSOP Champ Phil Ivey and David Benyamine, yet, only Patrick Antonius has said yes to the durrrr challenge. At this point, both players have participated in a total of 20,647 poker hands out of 50,000, with durrrr up by $726,546 total.

Online Poker Special Program will be presented on TV

Posted under Poker & online poker & texas hold em

poker scam
On Sun., Nov. 30th the CBS network will show their documentary “How Online Gamblers Unmasked Cheaters”. This special was filmed after a four-month investigation into the online poker business and specifically a cheating scandal in relation to the online Texas Hold’em poker webpage Absolute Poker.

This Texas Hold’em poker website was inspected after a few of the poker players on the website alleged that someone was dishonestly winning a great amount of poker chips. Todd Witteles was a key witness in this research, according to him; he was losing large amounts of poker hands to the exact same Texas Hold’em poker player. Witteles declared that this poker player was raising against extremely good poker hands, the majority of people would have thought he was just giving his money away, but he was in reality winning quite often.

Witteles was pretty accurate with his theories, later on it was uncovered that someone on the inside was able to see anyone’s hole cards. At first glance, Absolute Poker stated that there were no problems with the website or the Texas Hold’em poker player. After numerous players presented the site with allegations, the Texas Hold’em poker website investigated further into the problem and discovered wrongdoing.

Around Jan. of this year, the Kahnawake Gaming Commision unearthed what the Texas Hold’em players and the Texas Hold’em page had supposed all along. The result of the investigation was that, there was a staff member who had invaded the Texas Hold’em page’s security and was competing dishonestly for approximately a month and a half. The investigation verified that the Texas Hold’em website had not gained from the dishonest transactions in any way, and was not engaged in the activities.

These circumstances are further testimony that there ought to be more regulation regarding gambling pages. The United States government needs to authorize and regulate the online Texas Hold’em poker business to look after these honest customers. These laws would also control the admission to these pages by kids, which is becoming another problem issue lately.

Is it Possible to Make a Living by Playing Online Texas Hold’em Poker?

Posted under online poker & poker tips & texas hold em

poker champs
Take a minute to imagine if you were to talk to any average person off the street about poker, they most likely wouldn’t deem Texas Hold’em poker to be a game of tactics, preparation, or close examination. Possibly when you mention online Texas Hold’em with them, they would possibly imagine some friends lounging around their living room having conversations and drinking beer. They also might consider Texas Hold’em poker to be a game of chance and not ability, more like a game of craps and not a skill game, for instance.

So the big question you might be asking yourself is: “Could I become rich by playing in poker tournaments?”. You might not believe it but, the answer to this question is a very strong “yes”. Numerous folks not only win money by playing Texas Hold’em, but also make enough to live by playing the game. The key point you need to remember about online poker is that while you can play in a Sin City casino, alongside craps tables and slots; in online Texas Hold’em you are not contending against the house but against other Texas Hold’em rivals. So, in all reality, you are risking your money against other rivals in a competition of ability unlike a game of fate.

You could be saying to yourself: “What about the luck factor?” Obviously in poker, no one knows which hands will be dealt. That doesn’t indicate that you cannot play Texas Hold’em with a certain amount of pre-tournament information. One crucial point to remember in poker is that numbers can be your best friend. Mathematics performs a vital role in the game of online poker. So much so, that even if you become a bit lucky regularly the figures always have a way of humbling a poker player.

Remember that Las Vegas, Nevada casino table games similar to online Texas Hold’em poker where you are in fact playing versus other actual competitors CAN be won. The more you play the game of Texas Hold’em poker, you will notice that it is more of game of talent and not just natural fate.
